Effective in SY 2017-2018, Martin B. Papay Jr., the Founder, Executive Director and Chief Internal Auditor of Maharlika International School (MIS) offers the Banaken-Kelayan Memorial Scholarship in loving memory of his mother's grandparents and his great grandparents Banaken Inginga& Kelayan Lacdagan. This is in response to produce a cadre of educated, competent and professional members of the clan which the couple were not able to achieve in their younger years and failed to provide to their children due to financial difficulties especially of the early death of lolo Banaken.
The scholarship program is equivalent to 50% subsidy Of the school fees to the deserving direct members of the Banalken-Kelayan Clan who are less fortunate and have financial difficulties to enroll any of the following courses:
1. Bachelor of Secondary Education major in MAPEH
2. Bachelor of Secondary Education major in TLE
3. Bachelor of Science in Information & Computer Science & 18 units of education
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Applicants must be a direct Banaken-Kelayan Clan member
2. Single and not more than 20 years old
3. General Academic Weighted Average in High School is at least 85% and no grade lower than 80%
4. Combined annual income of parents is not more than P300,000.00
5. Must not a recipient of other scholarship/s
6. Strong interest in Teaching as a Profession and become a Licensed Professional Teacher
7. Motivated and committed to work at MIS in Dili, East Timor for 10 years after passing the LET
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Form 137
2. Certificate of Good Moral Character
3. Combined Income Tax Return of parents
4. Application letter on expression of interest to avail the scholarship
5. Resume indicating academic & extra curricular achievements
6. Short essay on why the applicant deserves the scholarship
7. Commitment letter to work with regular compensation at MIS in Dili, East Timor for 10 years after passing the LET
8. Must maintain general academic weighted average of at least 85% per semester/ trimester and no grade shall be lower than 80%
9. Must take the LET exam after graduation
10. Upon employment at MIS, support/sponsor a direct Banaken-Kelayan clan member at a minimum of the same assistance previously enjoyed
MIS reserves the right to amend and/or modify the qualifications and requirements for the scholarship. This is not a first come first served application, applicants will be screened base on the above mentioned qualifications.
